Ingredients
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 14 oz. bag caramels
- 3/4 c. evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 6 oz. chocolate chips
- 6 oz. walnuts
Method
- Prepare cake mix according to directions.
- Pour 1/3 of batter into greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 15 minutes at 350°.
- Combine caramels, milk and margarine in a double boiler until blended, stirring often.
- Pour over first layer of baked cake.
- Pour rest of batter over caramel layer and sprinkle with chips and walnuts. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
- When cool, frost with Cool Whip.
