Ingredients
- 1 double layer size German chocolate cake mix
- 1 large can evaporated milk
- 6 Tbsp. margarine, melted
- 1 (12 to 14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped pecans
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Mix cake mix, 3/4 cup milk and margarine; spoon half the batter into the pan.
- Bake for 6 minutes, or until it starts to get firm.
- Melt caramels with the remaining milk.
- Remove cake from oven.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup pecans.
- Spoon caramel over chips and nuts.
- Spoon remaining batter on top.
- Top with remaining chips and nuts.
- Return to oven; bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until cake springs back when touched.
- Cool before cutting.
