Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (12 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
  • 1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Mix German chocolate cake according to directions on box. Pour 1/2 of cake mix into greased and floured 13 x 9-inch cake pan and bake for 15 minutes at 350°, then cool.
  • Prepare 12 ounces Kraft caramels, 1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk and 1/2 cup butter into saucepan and melt over slow heat.
  • Pour over cooled cake.
  • Sprinkle 6 ounces chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped pecans over caramel mixture on cake.
  • Then pour remaining batter and bake 20 minutes at 350°.
