Ingredients

  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 4 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 block Japanese Pressed Tofu Or Silken Tofu (1 Pound Block)
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce

Method

  • In a shallow frying pan over medium heat, heat the oil.
  • Then add minced garlic and cook until golden brown.
  • Do not leave garlic and oil in the pan when its done as it will continue to brown and then burn in the residual heat.
  • Pour into a cool bowl and set aside.
  • Remove tofu block from its packaging.
  • If you want to serve this cold, proceed to the next step.
  • If serving warm, add a dash of water into the pan and once its simmering add the tofu and steam it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then pour away the water that has pooled at the bottom of the serving dish.
  • I do not recommend using the microwave as it may cause the tofu to explode.
  • Put your tofu onto a plate.
  • Spoon soy sauce and the fried garlic with oil over the top.
  • You can choose to cut it into cubes to serve or leave a spoon on the dish for everyone to scoop out their own portion.
  • Messy but fun!
