Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 4 Tbsp. Hershey's cocoa
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 Tbsp. Hershey's cocoa
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Bring to a boil in a double boiler 2 sticks margarine, water, and 4 Tbsp. cocoa.
  • Remove from heat and add 2 c. sugar, flour and salt; mix well.
  • Beat together eggs, sour cream and soda and add to cocoa mixture.
  • Pour batter into jelly roll pan and bake at 325° for 25 minutes.
  • While cake is baking, prepare frosting. Melt together in double boiler 1 stick margarine, cocoa and milk. Bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and quickly add walnuts, powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Spread frosting on hot cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
