Ingredients

  • 1/4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. catsup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • thinly sliced onions

Method

  • Combine first 6 ingredients in saucepan, simmer 5 minutes, stirring.
  • Combine beef with salt and pepper.
  • Spread raw meat to edge of toasted buns, brush meat with sauce, top with onion slice and brush with additional sauce.
  • Broil 6 to 8 inches from heat for 5 to 7 minutes, brushing occasionally with sauce until meat is done as you like it.
  • Makes 12 open sandwiches.
