Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 100 g (3 1/2 oz) tarama or smoked cod's roe
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml/2 fl oz) olive oil

Method

1. Place the bread in a bowl and cover with cold water. Drain and squeeze out as much water as possible, then return the bread to the dried bowl.

2. Add the onion, tarama, lemon juice and oil to the bread and mix together with a fork. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.

3. Alternatively, this dip can be mixed in a food processor or blender. Serve with sliced bread.
