Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 c. sifted flour
Method
- Soften yeast in lukewarm water; scald milk.
- Add shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm.
- Add 2 cups flour; mix well. Add softened yeast and eggs; beat well.
- Add enough flour to make soft dough.
- Turn out on lightly floured board.
- Knead until satiny.
- Place in greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into rolls or coffee cake.
- Let rise until double in bulk.
- Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
- Makes 3 dozen.
