Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 c. soft shortening
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 7 to 7 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Method

  • Melt shortening in the warm water.
  • Dissolve yeast in same water in large mixing bowl.
  • Mix well.
  • Add sugar, salt, eggs, milk and baking powder.
  • Slowly add 1 cup flour while scraping sides. Add flour until stiff enough to knead.
  • Add flour to soft dough, about 5 minutes.
  • Let rise.
  • Mix down once.
  • Shape into rolls, coffee cake, tea ring, cinnamon rolls or pecan rolls.
  • Bake at 375°.
