Ingredients
- 2 c. hydrated lime
- 2 gal. water
- 1 gal. sliced cucumbers
- 9 c. sugar
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 1 tsp. canning salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
- 1 tsp. whole allspice
Method
- Soak sliced cucumbers in lime and water for 24 hours.
- Drain and soak in fresh water for 3 hours. Drain.
- Heat and pour over well drained pickles,
- the sugar, vinegar, salt, celery seed, pickling spices and allspice.
- Soak 24 hours.
- Boil all ingredients for 35 minutes. Can, hot, in sterilized jars.
