Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 c. sifted powder sugar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 T. water
  • 1 T. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 c. finely chopped almonds
  • Additional sifted powdered sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and butter with electric mixer until fluffy. Add powdered sugar and salt; mix well. Add next 4 ingredients, stirring well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Slightly flatten each dough ball. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and roll in powdered sugar. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
