Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, coarsely grated
  • 1/4 c. chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper
  • 18 giant shells
  • 2 lb. jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 c. Italian dry style bread crumbs

Method

  • Brown ground chuck, onion and garlic until crumbly.
  • Drain excess fat and cool.
  • Stir in cheese, parsley, bread crumbs and egg.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Cook shells in boiling salt water until almost tender (approximately 15 minutes).
  • Drain and stuff with meat mixture.
  • Spoon 1/4 of sauce into bottom of 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Put in stuffed shells, side by side.
  • Pour remaining sauce over shells.
  • Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes until brown and bubbly.
  • Serve with more Parmesan.
