- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, coarsely grated
- 1/4 c. chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper
- 18 giant shells
- 2 lb. jar spaghetti sauce
- 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 c. Italian dry style bread crumbs
Method
- Brown ground chuck, onion and garlic until crumbly.
- Drain excess fat and cool.
- Stir in cheese, parsley, bread crumbs and egg.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Cook shells in boiling salt water until almost tender (approximately 15 minutes).
- Drain and stuff with meat mixture.
- Spoon 1/4 of sauce into bottom of 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Put in stuffed shells, side by side.
- Pour remaining sauce over shells.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes until brown and bubbly.
- Serve with more Parmesan.
