Ingredients

  • 1 lb. loaf, White sandwich bread, 1 day old
  • 1 x 8 oz. pkg. Cream cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 12 Eggs
  • 1 1/3 c. Milk
  • 1/2 c. Pure maple syrup

Method

  • Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch Baking dish.
  • Cut up the loaf into cubes and place half the cubes in the bottom of the baking dish. Place half the cheese cubes over the bread, make another layer with the remaining bread then another layer of cheese.
  • Beat together the eggs, milk and maple syrup, pour over the bread and cheese. Cover and refrigerate over night.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°f. 180°c. gas mark 4. Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it stand for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm with butter, margarine, powdered sugar and additional maple syrup.
  • Serves 10.
