Ingredients

  • 1 yellow or white cake mix
  • 1 (3.4 oz.) pkg. instant pudding mix (any flavor)
  • 3/4 c. powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. cold milk

Method

  • Prepare cake according to package directions.
  • Remove baked cake from oven; immediately poke holes in cake 1 inch apart, using wooden spoon handle.
  • Only after poking holes, combine instant pudding, powdered sugar and milk.
  • Beat at low speed for not more than 1 minute; do not overbeat.
  • Quickly, before pudding thickens, pour 1/2 of the thin pudding evenly over warm cake into holes to make stripes.
  • Allow remaining pudding to thicken slightly, then spoon over the top, swirling it to frost the cake.
  • Chill at least 1 hour.
  • Store cake in refrigerator.
