Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. cold butter
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 24 caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In large bowl, combine flour, sugar and egg.
  • Cut in 1/2 cup of butter until crumbly.
  • Stir in nuts. Reserve 2 cups.
  • Press remainder firmly on bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile in saucepan over low heat, melt caramels, milk and remaining butter.
  • Pour over prepared crust.
  • Top with reserved crumb mixture.
  • Bake 20 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Cut into bars.
  • Store loosely covered at room temperature.
