Ingredients
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 beaten egg
- 2/3 c. light cream
- 3 to 4 c. sugared sliced strawberries
- 1 c. whipping cream, whipped or 1 c. Cool Whip
Method
- Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until like coarse crumbs.
- Combine egg and the light cream; add all at once, stirring just enough to moisten.
- Spread dough in greased 8 x 1 1/2-inch round layer pan, building up edges slightly.
- Bake in 450° oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
- Remove from pan; cool.
- Split in 2 layers.
- Lift top off carefully.
- Butter bottom layer.
- Spoon berries and the whipped cream or Cool Whip between layers and on top.
