Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2/3 c. light cream
  • 3 to 4 c. sugared sliced strawberries
  • 1 c. whipping cream, whipped or 1 c. Cool Whip

Method

  • Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until like coarse crumbs.
  • Combine egg and the light cream; add all at once, stirring just enough to moisten.
  • Spread dough in greased 8 x 1 1/2-inch round layer pan, building up edges slightly.
  • Bake in 450° oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
  • Remove from pan; cool.
  • Split in 2 layers.
  • Lift top off carefully.
  • Butter bottom layer.
  • Spoon berries and the whipped cream or Cool Whip between layers and on top.
