Ingredients

  • 150 grams Shiratamako
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 200 grams Water
  • 1 dash Red food colouring
  • 200 grams Koshi-an (I used shiro-an)
  • 10 Strawberry (small or medium)
  • 1 Katakuriko

Method

  • Hull the strawberries.
  • Divide the bean paste into 20 g portions.
  • Flatten on your hand to make a pancake.
  • Wrap the strawberry in the bean paste.
  • Make the mochi dough.
  • Put the shiratamako and granulated sugar in a bowl.
  • Add and mix water gradually.
  • Cover with plastic wrap.
  • Microwave for about 2 minutes at 500 W. Take out from the microwave and stir.
  • Add red food colouring dissolved in a little water (not listed).
  • Add colouring until dough becomes the pink colour you like.
  • Flatten on your hand to make the dough into a round circle.
  • Wrap the bean paste with the dough.
  • If it's sticky, coat katakuriko on your hands.
