Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. grape juice
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 1 c. ground suet
  • 2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. mace
  • 2 c. seeded raisins
  • 1/2 c. fruit peel, assorted

Method

  • Beat eggs; add sugar and mix well.
  • Sift flour, soda, spices and salt and add to egg mixture.
  • Dust fruit and nuts with flour and fold into batter.
  • Steam 3 hours and serve with hard sauce. Tin cans are good to steam in, then when you want to serve, remove bottom from can and push pudding out.
