Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. hot water
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and cocoa.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add vinegar to milk and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the dry ingredients.
- Add vanilla and hot water.
- Makes two (9-inch) layers or 1 large sheet cake.
- Bake 30 minutes at 350°.
