- 1 large onion, diced
- 1/2 c. celery, diced
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. ground chuck
- 1 (32 oz.) can Hunt's whole tomatoes
- 1 (12 oz.) can Contadina tomato paste
- 3 (16 oz.) cans Contadina tomato puree
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. sweet basil
- 2 bay leaves
Method
- In a large pan, heat olive oil on medium heat.
- Add celery and onion and cook until limp.
- Turn heat to high and add ground chuck.
- Cook quickly until browned.
- Take off heat and add tomatoes (with the juice).
- Cut the tomatoes up and then add paste and tomato sauce.
- Stir until blended.
- Add spices; stir.
- Cook slowly for about 8 hours.
- Serve over your favorite pasta.
