- 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 3 medium onions
- 1 large green pepper
- 1 large can crushed tomatoes
- 2 large cans tomato sauce
- 1 large can tomato paste
- 1 large can water
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. thyme leaves
- 1 Tbsp. basil
- 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 Tbsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. granulated garlic
- 2 envelopes spatini
- 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
Method
- Pour all tomato products in heavy-duty sauce pot.
- Add water, spices, spatini and cheese.
- Cook on low heat, covered.
- Cook ground beef in frying pan constantly stirring until meat is broken into crumbs and is brown.
- Pour meat into colander and drain grease off.
- Using same frying pan, add 1/2 tablespoon oil, chopped onions and green peppers, diced.
- Cook until vegetables are soft but not soggy.
- Pour into colander with meat and let drain.
- Add meat and vegetables to sauce and cook on low heat four hours, covered, occasionally stirring and adding water when necessary.
- Serves 8.
