Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tbsp. shortening
  • 2/3 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Sift together flour, baking pwdr, baking soda and salt.
  • Cut in shortening with a pastry blender.
  • Stir in buttermilk.
  • Form mix into a ball.
  • Place on floured covered board and knead lightly.
  • Roll out into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Cut with a small biscuit cutter.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 450 degree preheated oven about 8-10 min.
  • Leftover biscuits are great the next day sliced in half, buttered and put under the broiler for a few min.
  • Makes 24 small biscuits.
