Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. starter (at room temperature)
Method
- Rinse large bowl in hot water.
- Put 1 cup warm water in bowl and sprinkle with yeast.
- Stir in next 3 ingredients.
- Add flour and mix thoroughly with hands.
- Cover and let set for 1 hour or until double its bulk.
- Turn out on heavily floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.
- Place in 2 round pans, well-greased with oil.
- Sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Slit with razor and let rise for 40 minutes.
- Brush with eggs and bake 30 to 35 minutes at 400°.
