Ingredients

  • 2 cups potato water (what's left over from boiling potatoes)
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cup
  • flour

Method

  • Put ingredients in glass crock jar or large bowl. *Never metal*
  • Mix well. Set crock in warm draft free place.
  • Dough has mild sour taste at 12 hours or stronger taste at 36 hours.
  • Sandra always kept her starter in her refrigerator and added to it after taking some out.
  • How to feed sourdough starter
  • (add to remaining starter in crock):
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 7/8 cup flour
  • Let sit in a warm place 3-4 hours. Store in refrigerator if not used by next day.
