Ingredients
- 2 1/2 to 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. RapidRise yeast
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine, cut in pieces
- 2 eggs
- sesame or poppy seed
Method
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, undissolved yeast and salt.
- Heat sour cream, water and butter until very warm (120° to 130°). Stir in 1 egg and enough remaining flour to make soft dough.
- Knead lightly to make soft dough.
- Knead on lightly floured board until smooth and elastic, 4 to 6 minutes.
- Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll into smooth ball.
- Place on greased baking sheet. Fill a shallow pan 1/2 full with boiling water.
- Place baking sheet on pan to rise 20 minutes.
- Make 6 (3/4-inch) snips around edge.
- Beat remaining egg. Brush on rolls. Sprinkle with seed. Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
- Cool on rack.
- Yields 1 dozen.
