Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. light molasses
  • 1/2 c. moist cut coconut
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Method

  • Sift together the flour, soda and salt. Blend together the Crisco and sugar, creaming well. Add the egg and molasses.
  • Beat well. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually.
  • Mix thoroughly. Add the coconut and pecans or walnuts.
  • Mix well. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake in moderate oven at 375° for 6 to 7 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheets.
  • Makes 3 dozen cookies.
