Ingredients
- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 c. brown or white sugar
- 1/3 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/3 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. lemon
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. milk
Method
- Peel and slice potatoes.
- Place in a pot.
- Cover with hot water and bring to boil; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Drain; place in a deep dish lined with pastry.
- Sprinkle each layer of potatoes with sugar and spices.
- Dot with butter.
- Pour milk over potatoes.
- Top with strips of pastry.
- Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 325° and bake for 45 minutes more.
