Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. margarine

Method

  • Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and cream of tartar. Cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add the egg and milk, stirring quickly.
  • Knead lightly on floured wax paper.
  • Roll or pat gently; cut into biscuits.
  • Place on greased cookie sheets and bake in 450° oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Very good with bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast.
