Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 3/4 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. milk

Method

  • Combine the first 5 ingredients.
  • Cut in butter or margarine until crumbly.
  • Add beaten egg and milk, stirring until just mixed.
  • Knead briefly on lightly floured bread board.
  • Roll or pat to about 1-inch thickness.
  • Cut with round biscuit cutter.
  • Place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.
