Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic or garlic salt
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can tomato puree
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Saute onion and garlic in oil in large pan.
  • Add tomatoes, puree and seasonings; simmer for about 1 hour.
  • When cooked down and quite thick, remove bay leaf.
  • Taste for seasonings.
  • Add if necessary.
  • Pour over pizza dough.
  • Add cheese and toppings of your choice.
  • Bake at 450° for 15 to 20 minutes.
