Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups Butter
  • 6 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 cup Diced Celery
  • 1/2 cups Chopped Red Pepper
  • 1/2 cups Chopped Yellow Pepper
  • 6 Green Onions, Thinly Sliced
  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Cajun Seasonings
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
  • 2 pounds Peeled, Deveined And Chopped Shrimp
  • Cooked Rice, For Serving

Method

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat then stir in flour.
  • Stir constantly until it becomes a rich dark brown.
  • Add vegetables and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in water and seasonings.
  • Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until it starts to thicken.
  • Add shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Serve over rice.
