Ingredients

  • 2 c. chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Over low heat, melt 1 cup chips, sugar, applesauce and margarine; stir until smooth.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add egg whites; stir well.
  • Stir in flour, baking soda and vanilla.
  • Stir in rest of chips and nuts.
  • Spread into greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • Bake in preheated 350° oven for 16 to 20 minutes, or just until set.
  • Cool completely.
  • Cut into 2-inch squares.
