Ingredients
- 8 c. shredded cabbage
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 3/4 c. grated cheese
- bread crumbs, potato chips or cracker crumbs
- 1/4 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- paprika
Method
- Cook cabbage in a 2 1/2-quart casserole.
- Drain.
- Add melted butter.
- Blend in flour, salt and pepper.
- Add milk and cook in oven until thickened (about 5 minutes).
- Stir every minute.
- In a 1 1/2-quart casserole, alternate layers of cabbage, white sauce and grated cheese.
- Top with bread crumbs and paprika and bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
- Turn dish 1/2 through baking time.
- Serves 8.
