Ingredients

  • 1 lb. raisins
  • water to cover raisins
  • 1 lb. beef sausage
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 c. flour

Method

  • Cover raisins with water and boil 20 minutes.
  • While raisins are boiling, mix sausage, cinnamon and sugar together.
  • With slotted spoon, put raisins in sausage mixture (save raisin water). Measure 1 cup raisin juice (if not a cup, add water).
  • Add baking soda to juice, then to sausage mixture.
  • Juice will foam when soda is added.
  • Add flour and mix well.
  • Bake in greased and floured tube pan.
  • Bake at 400° for 55 minutes or until toothpick is clean.
