Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. water or V-8
  • 2 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • pepper
  • 1 c. uncooked rice

Method

  • In a large skillet, brown and crumble sausage; drain most of fat off.
  • Add onion and saute lightly.
  • Add tomatoes, Worcestershire, water or V-8, salt, pepper and sugar.
  • Mix well over heat until mixture comes to a boil.
  • Stir in rice.
  • Reduce heat to simmer; cover.
  • Stir occasionally.
  • Cook 25 to 30 minutes, until rice is cooked and all liquid is absorbed.
  • If rice starts to dry out prior to 20 minutes, add more liquid.
