Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped (1 c.)
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 can (16 oz.) sauerkraut
  • 1 can (16 oz.) peeled tomatoes
  • 3 potatoes, pared and cubed
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 pkg. frankfurters, sliced diagonally

Method

  • Saute onion and green pepper in shortening until tender.
  • Add all remaining ingredients except frankfurters.
  • Simmer, covered, 35 minutes or until ingredients are tender.
  • Add frankfurters; simmer 10 minutes longer.
