Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 oz. cube steaks
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp. oil
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green pepper, sliced thinly
  • 4 oz. mushrooms, whole or pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. chili sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. mushroom juice

Method

  • Season cube steaks and brown quickly on both sides in hot oil. Remove steak.
  • Saute onion, green pepper and mushrooms in browned drippings until tender.
  • Stir in chili sauce and juice.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Return steaks to sauce, spoon sauce on top, cover and heat thoroughly.
  • Extra juice and chili sauce may not be added.
