Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1 lime, thinly sliced
- 1/5 bottle red or white wine
- 1 (8 oz.) bottle carbonated water
Method
- Combine sugar and water in saucepan.
- Heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved.
- Bring to boil.
- Add sliced fruit to hot syrup and marinate at least 4 hours before using.
- When ready to serve, put about 12 ice cubes in a tall glass pitcher; add marinated fruit (reserving 2 slices of fruit for each glass) and 1/2 cup of the syrup, then add wine and carbonated water.
- Place 2 slices fruit in each glass and fill glasses from pitcher.
- Makes 8 servings.
