Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar (4 Tbsp. honey, 2 Tbsp. sugar)
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 5 Tbsp. oleo
- cornmeal
- 1 egg white, mixed with 3 Tbsp. water (to brush tops of loaves)
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. caraway seed
- 5 c. rye flour
- 5 c. white flour (approximately)
Method
- Scald milk; add sugar, molasses and oleo.
- Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into large bowl and sprinkle in yeast.
- Stir until dissolved.
- Add lukewarm milk mixture.
- Add caraway seed and rye flour; beat well.
- Add enough white flour to make dough. Knead about 7 minutes.
- Put in greased bowl and let rise until double.
