Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. round steak
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 (16 oz.) can sliced or diced tomatoes
- 1/2 c. finely chopped celery
- 1/2 c. finely chopped carrots
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Method
- Cut the steak into 6 portions.
- Combine the flour and salt and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of mixture over the steak.
- Pound the mixture into both sides of the steak.
- In a skillet, heat the shortening and brown the meat.
- Transfer meat to 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
- Blend remaining flour mixture to pan drippings. Stir in remaining ingredients constantly until thick and bubbly. Pour the mixture over meat and cover dish.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until the meat is tender.
