Ingredients
- 2 qt. meat stock
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 2 potatoes, diced
- sour cream (optional)
- 6 oz. pearl barley
- 1/3 c. mushrooms
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper
Method
- Cube leftover bread and place the cubes on a paper towel in your microwave.
- Microwave on High power until they are hard, about 1 minute. Combine dried herbs and spices of your choice. For example, basil, thyme, parsley, paprika and pepper.
- Place in paper or plastic bag with the hardened cubes. Shake well.
