Ingredients
- 1 large head cabbage
- 1 large onion
- 1 green pepper (optional)
- 2 c. plus 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 c. vinegar
- 3/4 c. salad oil
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
Method
- Shred cabbage finely.
- Slice onion thin.
- Put layer of cabbage in large bowl (I use Tupperware for this).
- Then layer of onion, etc., until bowl is filled.
- Pour 2 cups of sugar over this.
- Mix together the other ingredients with 2 teaspoons sugar.
- Bring to a boil.
- Pour over cabbage mixture; mix well.
- Place in container with tight lid; cover.
- Store in refrigerator.
- Let stand 4 hours. Stir well and serve.
- Keeps as long as it lasts.
