Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate (either chips or squares)
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 c. strong, hot coffee
- 1 c. half and half
- 1 tsp. real vanilla extract
Method
- Heat milk and chocolate in a heavy saucepan until chocolate melts.
- Whisk until smooth, or beat with an electric mixer until flecks of chocolate are incorporated.
- Stir in sugar and salt; bring mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat; simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in coffee and half and half, then briefly bring to a simmer.
- Add vanilla and serve immediately. Serves 5.
