Ingredients

  • 1 c. rice, washed in cold water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 lb. hamburger or ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 to 3 medium onions, cut fine
  • 2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce

Method

  • Mix rice, salt and boiling water and let stand, covered, without stirring or boiling, while you brown the hamburger in butter, adding onions, celery, mushrooms and soy sauce.
  • Combine with rice.
  • Bake slowly, 1 hour, in covered casserole dish, 9 x 11-inch (Pyrex).
  • Serves 8 to 10 people.
