Ingredients
- 17 to 18 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 lb. fresh yeast (approximately 4 yeast cakes)
- 10 eggs
- 1 c. Mazola oil or 1/2 lb. melted butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 2 c. water
- rind of 1 lemon
- raisins
Method
- Put milk and water in saucepan and scald.
- Set aside to cool to lukewarm.
- Dissolve yeast cakes with approximately 1 tablespoon sugar and a little warm water.
- When bubbly, put in large mixing bowl.
- Add lukewarm milk and water.
- Mix. Add flour (approximately 2 cups) until consistency of thin sour cream.
- Mix well. Leave in warm place (covered) 1 to 4 hours until bubbly.
