Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. smooth peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp. oil

Method

  • Heat until bubbling the margarine, water, eggs, cocoa and buttermilk.
  • Add sugar, flour, baking powder and vanilla while hot but not on stove.
  • Put in greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool thoroughly.
  • Mix peanut butter with oil.
  • Stir well.
  • Spread over cake.
