Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. cake flour
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. red food coloring
Method
- Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add and beat until fluffy the eggs.
- Sift together the flour and cocoa.
- Add alternately with buttermilk.
- Dissolve the baking soda in the vinegar. Add to batter.
- Mix in the food coloring.
- Pour into greased and floured cake pans and bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
