Ingredients
- 2 1/2 lb. red cabbage
- 3 1/2 oz bacon fat or oil
- 2 apples
- 1/2 pt. water
- 1 tsp. caraway seeds
- 2 tbsp. vinegar
- sugar to taste
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp cold water
Method
- Cut cabbage into 8 sections.
- Shred and cut into strips.
- Fry bacon.
- Add cabbage to the fat and cook for a short time.
- Add sliced apples, water and caraway seeds.
- Simmer until done. Season with vinegar, sugar and salt.
- Thicken the cooking liquid with the cornstarch and water.
