Ingredients

  • 1 medium red cabbage
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper and salt
  • 1 small onion, minced

Method

  • Shred cabbage; put in pan with salted water to cover and 2 tablespoons vinegar.
  • Heat to boiling; cover and cook until tender. Drain.
  • Fry bacon until crisp; drain, keeping bacon grease in pan. Add to it brown sugar, flour, water, 1/4 cup vinegar, salt, pepper and onion.
  • Cook, stirring frequently, until thick.
  • Add sauce and diced bacon to cabbage.
  • Stir and heat through.
