Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 1/4 c. water
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening or oleo
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 well beaten eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
Method
- Boil the raisins and water for 5 minutes. Cool and stir in the baking soda. Cream the sugar, shortening or oleo, vanilla and eggs.
- Add the cooled raisin mixture, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and baking powder.
- Nuts can be added. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased pan. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Should be a soft cookie.
